This podcast contains explicit content | Played: 2540 | Download | Duration: 00:00:00

Jeremy travels to all the way to Hawaii to interview the ellusive Ted Roe, Director of the National Aviation Reporting Center on Anomalous Phenomena (NARCAP). They discuss the now-debunked U.N. UFO meeting promoted by exo-politics guru Michael Salla as well as NARCAP's work and...well...dolphins. It is Hawaii, after all!

I thought he was informative. I had no idea about the plasma research NASA had done, for instance.

To your listeners, please discriminate between my comments and Jeremy's as I don't necessarily share his views on all things though I find that we are sympatico on many points.
I apologize to you all for my own speaking skills, I rarely do interviews and will work diligently to improve them.
As for the first comment on the "comments" list on this page regarding 40years of research and nothing interesting.... that isn't entirely true but the real fact of the UFO situation is that while we have a lot of observations and anecdotal comments, we have very little factual information. For 60years UFOlogy has failed to influence anyone but itself and if we want to break that pattern we have to become more discriminating and less speculative. We need to exercise discipline and work through the data without projecting speculations and beliefs into the situation. Maybe then we will have some more interesting materials for review...
In any case, if anyone wants to talk with me I can be reached at ted_roe@narcap.org. If you are interested in freediving and swimming with sea life of various types go to:
    http://everblue-freediving.blogspot.com
I offer instruction and tankless diving tours...
Anyway, try to be satisfied with a little bit of truth and have the courage to say "I don't know" when you don't. Be patient and critical... good luck.

There's definitely a volume difference, but the interview overall wasn't too shabby. Good luck to the guy trying to take the woo-hoo tinfoil shit out, much to Salla's chagrin apparently. And Salla does have that creepy guru aura about him.*shiver*

As a person who's part-time occupation is to throw tinfoil out into the blogosphere like a chimp throws feces just to be a general pain in the ass, deep down I would like to see some science applied to UAP/UFO research, just to bother people like Greer and Salla.

Although ‘grammar girl’ http://grammar.quickanddirtytips.com/irregardless.aspx would share your horror at the use of the double negative (as it’s used in this case), many others would argue double negatives (and sometimes triple negatives) were commonly used in medieval literature, in Shakespeare and also in Latin. I have an English teaching friend who believes it’s much ado about nuttin – a grammatical undoing – used to lay traps for and to discipline high school freshmen.

Maybe cleaning up ufological dodge is a worthy ambition, even a noble one if you want to pretend that the best that science has to offer ...knows... that there is something there worth studying! They just refrain from doing so for a few very pragmatic if very arguable reasons.

Moreover, if you can lose 2 TRILLION dollars in the petty cash drawer at the Pentagon while simultaneously shortchanging the freaking TROOPS, don't talk to me about _cost_, eh?

That all said. A fine man with a faultless reputation, Ted Roe has the chops to attempt the "noble gesture" in a forthright and above board manner.

Agreed. Far be it from me to criticize a guy who is trying to separate the good from bad and fact from speculation - always laudable work...but there's lots of laudable work out there, with no tipping point for science to take up the subject in sight - or much mainstream media attention, either. UFOs do not fit within any readily apparent formula.

I have had some 'unsettling' exchanges with him and in short, he and the whole movement makes me furious. Would you know of a group or organization in which researchers or writers could participate that is intelligent and discriminating? No exopolitics, No Billy Meir, No Project Serpo. Hi, NChant:

Glad you're liking it. Alfred Webre is either a charlatan, delusional, or both. I believe I have audio toward the end of Episode 7 wherein he says that the towers were taken down on 9/11 by reverse-engineered alien laser technology. This came during a panel discussion right after another fellow on the panel accused half of them (and singled out Webre) of being CIA agents. Here's the direct link:

      http://blog.valiens.com/2007/09/25/culture-of-contact-episode-7-disclosure-deconstructed-a-rock-opera.aspx

It was such a crazy time that I did the episode as a Nine Inch Nail rock opera so...sorry in advance if that's not your style. But, again, if you wade through to the middle end you'll find the Webre segment.

Now, to your second question--I'm glad you asked!  I've been silently assembling just such a group and will be unleashing them upon the world in a week or two. I'm killing off Valiens.com and launching cultureofcontact.com. Right now that brings you to a lame google page. But soon--oh so very soon--you'll have what you're looking for. Here's who will be on tap (in alphabetical order):

      Nancy Birnes
      Richard Dolan
      Nick Redfern
      Jeff Ritzmann
      Ted Roe
      Mac Tonnies
      Yours Truly

It will feature two distinct podcasts (including this one), an historic experiencer experiment, and Ted Roe's CASE CLOSED, which will present the in-depth investigations he, NARCAP, and other colleagues have performed to actually solve some of these UFO mysteries. This way we'll finally have an online archive of things we need no longer debate so we can concentrate on the real open mysteries.

In the meantime, do check out www.narcap.org for no-nonsense investigations into pilot cases.

Back to Webre...What were your unsettling exchanges about?

The best things in life should be free, but there's always been a premium on information, good or not. You don't know until you go down the road, you know?

Books, tapes, and DVDs are the only way most of us can get any info, at all, eh? We still have to sift it ourselves, sure, but we shouldn't be too quick to sneer at what might be a really sincere effort by someone, eh?

Frank Longo's film about Dorothy Izatt is a case in point. There are many others, too.
